At Lucas Divestore we have a diverse range of tech diving equipment, making us one of the largest tech dive shops in the world. A technical diver needs different equipment than a recreational diver because a technical diver dives longer and deeper. Find out more about our wide range of technical diving equipment.

The difference in technical diving and recreational diving

The main difference between technical diving and recreational diving is that technical divers can dive deeper and longer. Recreational divers generally dive to a maximum of 30 meters and experienced divers to a maximum of 40 meters. Technical divers can dive even deeper than 40 meters. This allows the diver to discover more places and they can dive longer on a wreck or further into a cave. Some also call it extended range.

Technical diving equipment

To dive deeper and longer, different diving equipment is required. In some cases, technical divers need up to twice as much gear than recreational divers. Think of a different BCD such as wings to regulate buoyancy, tec diving regulators, fins, guidelines (reels) and other technical diving equipment.

In our range, you will find tech diving products from top brands such as Scubapro, Apeks, Mares, Santi, Halcyon and OMS.

Scuba tanks and sidemount for technical diving

Technical divers often use different and multiple diving tanks. We also speak of technical diving tanks. For example, they choose either a steel double set or twice an Alu 80 for a sidemount configuration. With a sidemount, two tanks can be carried on the side instead of on the back. This can be useful when diving in caves. Passages in caves can be quite narrow and with a sidemount configuration, a technical diver can get through more easily.

Accessories for tech diving

Technical diving accessories such as tech shorts, spools, double-enders, snap hooks and gloves are important to complete your equipment. Diving gloves are very important for both the warmth and the protection of your hands. With the double-ender or carabiner, you can attach your diving equipment close to your body. This is useful during any technical dive.
